My First Half Marathon

I’ve been throwing around the idea of running a half marathon for a few weeks now, been doing a few runs a week outside and on nature trails and I’ve finally decided I’m just going to do it. I found an amazing book at Powell’s Book Store in Portland called ChiMarathon by Danny and Katherine Dreyer that I am basing my training program on. I recommend this book for anyone who’s thinking about running a half or full marathon because it focuses on the mind-body connection and running a pain and injury free long distance. Who knew it was even possible to enjoy running that far? I tire out at about 5 miles right now. So, using the ChiMarathon book, I made myself a printable schedule for the next 8 weeks. This is what my next 4 weeks looks like.  (This is NOT my running program! — buy the book :])

First 4 weeks

Of course I had to find and sign up for an event that was enough time away from now and to give myself something to work hard towards, so I found the Holiday Half Marathon on Saturday December 13th. I will be posting my training progress weekly so stay tuned and if you want to train and run with me, let’s do it!
